Welcome to Carnage

Carnage | Ner'zhul, a World of Warcraft Alliance guild

E-mail Print PDF

HumanCarnage is one of the oldest Alliance World of Warcraft guilds on the Ner'zhul PvP server. Our members are mature, skilled and experienced players who work well together. We have many members who pvp regularly, including world pvp, but our focus is raiding end-game content. Although we run 5-man and 10-man instances, our focus is 25-man raid content. Prior to TBC, we raid MC, BWL, AQ40, and Naxx. In TBC, we completed all the raid instances (Gruul's, Mag, SSC, TKE, MH, BT, and SWP). In WotLK, we have cleared VoA, VoA2, Naxx, Malygos, Sartharion (0-3 drakes), Ulduar, Trial of the Crusader, Icecrown Citadel and Ruby Sanctum. We are currently raiding Icecrown Citadel (12/12, 9/12 HM) and Ruby Sanctum working to progress on hard modes. We also occasionally farm ToGC for trinkets. We raid Tu/Thur 6-9pm and Sun 5-9pm (if necessary), with raid invites 15 minutes before the first pull. We also run in-guild main and alt ICC10s (11/12 HM w/a group working on achievement mounts) and an alt/social/friends ICC25 (8/12 the last few weeks).

APPLICATION

If you are interested in joining our guild, register for an account and post an application here.

We are accepting applications from skilled, mature, and consistent players interested in raiding with us. You must be able to listen, follow instructions, learn, and work as part of a team, but also take initiative for yourself. Raid slot availability will depend on your class and spec. We are currently full in our raid spots, although we are in the market for a few competent subs in various classes, particularly balance/resto druid, enhancement shaman, and possibly a warlock, mage or hunter. New trial members will compete for raiding spots, with preference, but not priority, given to our established raiders.

If you are a skilled player who wants to join as a social member, you are also welcome to post an application. Social members may apply for raider status if a raid slot opens up, but they will compete for that slot just like any other applicant. Social members are welcome to attend our alt/social raids.

Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings

E-mail Print PDF
Carnage revisited Ulduar last Sunday with members of Conquest to defeat Yogg-Saron and forge the legendary mace, Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, for two of our raid members. It took a few attempts to adjust to not having Hodir's assistance, to reacquaint ourselves with the fight, and for raid members to adjust to one another, but we defeated the monster brain despite his deafening roars. And after our victory, our two healers retrieved their shiny new toys. Congratulations Cheever and Mallet!

Mimiron and Vezax Down

E-mail Print PDF

Human-smallAfter a few weeks of members dealing with finals, taking vacations, and dealing with other real life issues, Carnage was back to making progress. We've been farming previous content for a while with sub raiders and social members, so our raid dps has improved significantly. So, we cleared previous content quickly and returned to Mimiron. We tweaked our healing positioning a bit and quickly learned the phases of the fight and got the evil gnome down on our third attempt.

Our next raid, it was on to General Vezax, the giant warrior Ancient One. It took a few attempts to adjust positioning and strategy for 25-man, but in the end, the One went down and phat loot was had. We had time to continue on to Yogg-Saron, so we went to have a look at Ulduar's final boss. It took us a few attempts to squeeze 25 people into the room and dodge its spinning clouds, but we were able to progress to phase two several times. We were adjusting our strategy for that phase when time ran out, but are confident we can figure it out the next time we get here.

Yogg-Saron Down

Human-smallCarnage finally silenced the annoying screams of Sara . . . . Yes, we downed Yogg-Saron and completed Ulduar (heroic). It took a few weeks to figure out how the phases of the fight and to execute them cleanly, but we made steady progress and finally put everything together this past Sunday on our third attempt at phase three. The end of the battle was particularly exciting. We were so focused on killing the Immortal Guardians quickly that we got close to the enrage timer. In the last minute at five percent, we switched all dps to Yogg's brain and asked our tanks to pop their CDs and tank all the adds. They died along w/a few raid members at 1%, but we still got the kill as well as the achievement for not having anyone go insane. One of our trial members remarked: I guess that means we don't have any retards in our guild. We don't know about that . . .

Onward to the joys of hard modes!

Thorim and Freya Down

E-mail Print PDF

Human-smallMore progress in Ulduar. After figuring out the right combination of tanks, dps, and healers for the hallway and the arena for the Thorim encounter on Thursday, a mid-term robbed us of our experienced hallway tank. We needed a few attempts to let another tank get experience with the hallway, then another few for folks to figure out how not to die in Phase 2. But in the end, we survived the waves of Thorim's minions and defeated the big fat Iron Dwarf and looted his cache.

We then moved on to Freya's Sanctuary of Life – aka big room full of annoying hostile plants – and after figuring out the differences between normal and heroic mode trash, cleared it all to face the giant stone guardian herself. We needed an attempt to figure out how to handle her elemental adds in heroic mode and another to learn to dodge her sprout spawns in phase two, then she also gave up her cache of loot. It was a banner night for Vanquisher tokens (double-double from both bosses after not having any drop in three weeks of Ulduar raiding).

Having a bit of time left, we cleared the trash to Mimiron – and after a brief interlude learning that the shuttle to his lair has gates on its landing that can send you to your death . . . – got our first look at the evil Mechagnome.
